Lares Technologies announces the release of TetherTrack™, a practical and affordable active GPS Offender Tracking system.

Chicago, IL – December 14, 2007.  Lares Technologies, LLC, an innovator in the electronic monitoring industry, announced today the release of TetherTrack™.  TetherTrack is an advanced, active, two-piece GPS Offender Tracking system.  TetherTrack is the result of over 15 years of electronic monitoring experience and extensive research, development and testing.

At the heart of the TetherTrack system is the patent-pending BTX Ankle Tether.  The BTX wirelessly tethers offenders to commercially available, GPS-enabled cellular phones.  Other than running Lares’ Tracking/Reporting Unit software application, there are no modifications or hardware additions needed to the cell phones, allowing Lares to offer multiple phone and carrier options.  As new cell phones are introduced with advanced features – more accurate and sensitive tracking, longer lasting batteries, increased memory – they can be easily added to TetherTrack’s offering.  Utilizing unmodified, commercially available cellular phones from large manufacturers as tracking devices also makes the system more reliable and keeps costs down.

Supervising agencies access offender information through the TetherTrack Monitoring and Mapping System, which incorporates the latest mapping technologies, an intuitive user interface, and a full compliment of notification protocols, reports and program management tools.

Kevin Hartman, President of Lares Technologies states: “Our goal with TetherTrack is to address the needs of today’s community supervision professionals and the shortcomings of current active GPS systems.  With TetherTrack, Lares has developed a low cost GPS Offender Tracking system in a practical, familiar form factor, that can be easily upgraded to take advantage of new technologies and remain state-of-the-art.”
