BTX Ankle Tether
Tracking System
At the heart of the Lares GPS Offender Tracking system is the BTX Ankle Tether. The patent-pending BTX is attached to the offender’s ankle and electronically tethers the offender to a suitable GPS-enabled cellular telephone running Lares Technologies’ Tracking/Reporting Unit Application (TRU App). No other modification is needed to the cellular phone; so as new phones are introduced with new GPS and other technologies, the BTX simply migrates as well. Any, and even multiple, cellular carriers can be utilized to meet the agency’s needs and to obtain the best coverage for different areas.
Rather than build a completely proprietary system, with the BTX, Lares Technologies is able to take advantage of commercially available products. This innovative, non-proprietary approach to offender tracking has many advantages and keeps the system state-of-the-art.

The BTX is small, lightweight and made of hypoallergenic materials. The strap is cut to the proper length and no other special tools or electronic keys are required for installation.
The BTX utilizes highly secure frequency hopping to prevent capture or duplication of the signal, and has dual (optical and conductive) strap tamper detection.
Unlike any other transmitter on the market, the BTX indicates battery level, not just good or low, so never again will an offender be sent home just to get a low battery alarm the next day. Also unique, the BTX’s signal is continuous, not merely bursts sent at regular intervals, and any status change, such as a tamper or low battery, is transmitted immediately.
